From Andy Horst of This Providence:
Ladies and Gentlemen,This Providence is now officially 4 days deep into the Dino Initiative Tour with Motion City Soundtrack, Set Your Goals, and the Swellers. Yee haw! First impressions…. IT’S SOO COLD!! I’m not gonna lie, I’m not the biggest fan of winter, or the bitter cold of the midwest. I feel like I truly understand the gloom of Narnia when the White Witch reigned over it’s country. It’s a little too much for my year long mild Seattle weather body! But regardless, this tour is great. It’s awesome to be out with our friends and label mates The Swellers, and of course Set Your Goals and the illustrious Motion City Soundtrack.
It’s funny how often we feel out of place as a band (musically, not relationally) on tours. It’s like we almost fit in but we usually aren’t quite punk enough, or dancy enough, or pop enough. But that’s not a bad thing. We like being ourselves. We play the music we do because we love playing music. We’re not trying to meet a certain quota or follow the rules of a “scene.” We just write songs that we like, and play them for you and hope that you like them too! So to our fans who stick with us… thanks again! You are like Aslan coming and taking the winter away. With your help we can take over the entire world! Every blog I write on here i just feel the need to thank you guys again and again. Every show you guys never cease to amaze us. I am stoked for 2010. We have a lot of awesome stuff in the works right now and are continually writing more music.
In other news, I recently started playing the world’s greatest cymbals. So here’s a big shout-out to Meinl Cymbals and to Chris B! I’m super excited to be a part of the Meinl family and hope to enjoy years of working with you. Here’s a couple links:
1. LINK: This is my new artist profile on the Meinl wed page.
2. LINK: Here’s Meinl’s press report on my joining.
I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the country and seeing the rest of you soon! Yipee!!
