Hey everyone!
This blog is being written from the Big Apple, where we are currently in the studio recording a couple acoustic songs. Today has been a busy one. We started out at Sirius, where we met a bunch of great people who have been pushing our song. It was awesome to meet everyone there. And when we were playing, Howard Stern walked by and gave us a wave, which was pretty damn cool. In between buildings, we ran into Matthew Lesko on the street- if you’re not familiar with him (which you’re probably not), he’s the “FREE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT!!” guy. We took a couple pictures, which was cool. Speaking of funny celebrity sightings, we saw Van Wilder himself yesterday on the way to our photoshoot (aka Ryan Reynolds). Yesterday we spent the day with our good friend Eric Ryan Anderson, who shot a bunch of new photos for us in Brooklyn. We ate at Red Bamboo last night, which is arguably the best veggie/vegan restaurant in the country. Halvo was in heaven! Red Bamboo is one of the things I look forward to most when coming to NYC. Wednesday I’m going to have the pleasure of seeing James Taylor live at Madison Square Garden, which should be amazing! Tomorrow we’re going to see the Gaslight Anthem at Irving Plaza, which should prove to be amazing.
…So its a day later now, and we had an incredible family dinner last night with a few friends from our label. It was my first Benihana experience, and it was just as I imagined it- loud, delicious, and generally out of control. We stopped by johnny utah’s for a bit where Katie rode the mechanical bull, and some crazy lady cried and randomly told Nick he had “never suffered.” Something tells me illegal substances were behind that one… In typical fashion, we danced the night away and had a blast. Halvo and I are going to meet the Hanson guys tonight. Can’t wait to meet them finally and let em know how stoked we are for tour in September.
Has anyone out there been watching the world cup? Can’t wait for the Brazil game this afternoon! Let’s hope the US can at least make it out of the first round this year.
Until next time, one love my friends!
